Fifty years ago a young man ask a
beautiful young woman to be his bride.
Today that young man and his bride
are my grams and gramps,
Marion and Walter Chapman.
My grandparents are the reason I
believe in love, marriage, and family
With out their dedication and devotion
for one another. I would have
never known Marriage is a sacred
bond, and really is till death do us part.
In a world where tradition and family
values have been forgotten.
Their Love and Commitment has
stood fast for all to see.
After several failed attempts at that
life long commitments,
I still hold out hope for my Fifty years
of marriage.
If ever my hope feels weak, I only have
to visit my Grand-parents.
Every time I see Gramps look at Grams
or listen, as he speaks of his bride,
my faith is renewed.
When I say bride I don't mean he is
referring to that young woman fifty years
ago.

He is usually speaking of the present
or not so distant past but to him,
they are one in the same.
For every time Gramps looks at Grams
his eyes only see his bride,
in his eyes she is still that young
woman of 1954.

Grams says if you never take more
from marriage than you give it will
always balance out. That's not
to say you won't ever have to give
more than your partner.

Sometimes you get more than you're
giving as it still balances in the end.

Marriage is a garden of love,
the more attention you give it the more
blooms you get. (that's my theory )

Grams says you should never try and
model your marriage after any one else;
Still there are two things that their
fifty years makes me sure of.

True happiness and life long
commitment are real and possible.
That's what I want to be lucky enough
to have someone look at me the way
Gramps looks at his bride (Grams)

For my Grams and Gramps
You're the greatest
Grand-parents any one
could ever wish for
Love
Hope
